Adding a Person’s Info Into Drupal (as People Content)
For staff, residents, and fellows & anyone without a UFIS profile
-
Make sure the person you want to add does NOT have a UFIS profile (Unless they are a Resident or Fellow, then it doesn’t matter if they have a UFIS profile). If they have a UFIS profile, do NOT add them as Person Content to the site (again, unless they are a Resident or Fellow)
-
Make sure the person has not already been added as Person Content to your site before you build their Person Content. We want to avoid duplications. Do this by searching their first name or uID in the title search box on the ‘Content’ page.
If you have questions about anything in steps one or two please reach out to hscwebmaster@hsc.utah.edu for clarification. We want to avoid duplicating content.
How to Build People Content
Step 1, Start the process
- Hover over the ‘Content’ tab.
- ‘Add content.’
- Select ‘Person’ from the dropdown.
Step 2, Enter all available information in the appropriate fields
If you are unsure of where to add something please ASK.
There are six different tabs of information on the Person Content page. Look through each tab for the field you feel would work best for the info you wish to add. Most info tends to be added on the Person Details Tab and the Resident/Fellow/Staff tab.
Person Details Tab
This tab includes the most important information: name, title, uID (always include this if the person has one), biography details, photo of the person, etc.
Resident/Fellow/Staff
If the person is currently a Fellow mark the radio button next to ‘Yes,’ then scroll down and type in their ‘Fellowship Program’ in the box shown and select it from the options that appear. Enter in any other info as you see fit.
If the person if currently a Resident mark the radio button next to ‘Yes’ then select what year they are in under the dropdown. This is the only thing that needs to be changed each year to move them through the resident year pages.
Note—A person can NOT be BOTH a fellow and a resident at the same time.
-
Leave Leadership set to No.
-
If the person is neither Resident or Fellow then mark them Yes for Staff.
If they are Faculty then you shouldn’t be creating a Person Content for them in the first place. You need to contact UFIS and get them set up there instead.
Step 3, Other tabs
-
Clinical tab—Skip for now.
-
Academic tab—Academic bio, education history, research, etc. Fill in all areas that apply.
-
Additional Links tab—If the person has a lab, this tab is where you could add a link to it.
-
Admin Fields tab—Skip for now.
Step 4, Publish
-
After you have added all applicable information to the person’s profile, save the profile as published.
If you don’t save as published then you won’t be able to pull this person’s info to any page using the Updated Profile Card Component.
Adding a Person to a page using the Updated Profile Card Component
DO NOT Make person components reusable (aka Component Content)
- Edit your page.
-
Add a ‘Gloss Section’ to the Site Studio layout canvas.
-
Drop a ‘Section Layout Component’ inside of the Gloss Section. Edit the Section Layout Component to determine how many cards you want per row. The default setting is 3. You can change this at any time
-
Add an ‘Updated Profile Card Component’ into the Section Layout Component.
-
Edit the ‘Updated Profile Card Component.’
-
In the white label at the top, add the person’s last name.
-
Example—If their name was Jane Doe, the label should look like the image on the right.
-
-
In the ‘Person’ field, start typing their uID. Select the correct option from the dropdown that appears.
-
In ‘View Mode’ select one of the styling options.
Note— you will want each person on the page to have the same View Mode style. You can adjust background color, hover effect, and text alignment under the ‘Layout & Style’ tab.
Layout & Styling Options
Editing a person’s info that is already in Drupal
-
Search their first name or uID in the title search box on the ‘Content’ page. You can change the dropdown under ‘Content Type’ to Person to further narrow your search.
-
Select the correct person from the search results.
-
Edit the fields that need editing. **If they are a resident and need to be moved to another year then simply change which year is selected under the ‘Resident/Fellow/Staff’ tab as shown above on this page.
-
Save your edits. The changes will now reflect wherever this person is displaying on your site.
