Create a Podcast Entry in Drupal

You'll find podcasts under content > media.
  • Log in to the health care site—https://admin.healthcare.utah.edu/user/login

  • Create a new entryHover over Content > Add content > then select podcast.

  • TitleType the title of the piece into the title field (do not use all caps).

  • Kaltura IDIf applicable, type in the Kaltura ID associated with this piece.

  • DateChoose the date you want to appear on the piece.

Meta Description

  • Meta descriptionOn the right-hand side of the page you will see a box containing several dropdown options (see screenshot). Open up the ‘Meta tags’ dropdown.

  • Scroll down a bit to ‘basic tags’. Under that label you will see a box called 'description’. Right now it is set up to auto-pull whatever you type in the description box. If you want a different description to pull for your meta description, you will want to delete the text that says ‘node:summary’ and type in the meta description that you want for this piece.

The character limit is 150.

Tease Images,Description, Layout Canvas, & Transcript

  • Tease imageIf you want your piece to have a custom thumbnail/tease image associated with it then right here is where you will attach it. Review our Image process so you do it correctly. Note: All tease images use the landscape cropping ratio of your image. Plan accordingly when selecting images for your piece.

  • DescriptionType the description/summary of your piece in this WYSIWYG field.

  • Layout canvasThis area gives you more control and flexibility over the design of your piece and allows for building more in-depth content. This is the preferred space for where you piece’s transcript will go. The transcript field below is a default field that is acceptable to use, but this layout canvas area is your ultimate goal.

  • TranscriptIf applicable, type/paste the transcript of your piece in this WYSIWYG field unless you are using the layout canvas (preferred) above.

Metadata & ACD

ACDs are a really important step. Don't skip this one.
  • Podcast typeSelect ‘The Scope.’

  • Podcast SeriesSelect the series your piece falls in with. You must make a selection here.

  • Video typeSelect ‘Kaltura.’

  • TagsThere will be an autogenerated tag list of tags to choose from. This is to mitigate the use of tags which cause more noise than use (one-off tags never used again) as well as ensure that tag lists are not duplicative. The primary function of tagging right now is to organize content to pull onto related webpages. Note: tags are very rarely clicked on, and we'd like to keep the list to a manageable size. Paring down the list will also help us identify content that is related to main organizational topics. We are not taking requests for new tags at this time.

  • uNIDenter the uUNID of any faculty member that is associated with this piece.

  • Player ID/UI Conf IDThis field is auto filled, ignore.

  • Access Control Department (ACD)Start typing ‘Scope’ in this field and select it from the autocomplete.

Publish

  • PublishIf you wish your Scope piece to go live right away then change the drop down to ‘Published’ and then ‘Save’ the piece via the blue save button at the bottom of the page.

If you want to save your edits and come back at a later time to publish then save your piece as ‘Draft’. Keep in mind, once you save as ‘Published’, even once, your piece will be live. Any saves as draft after an initial publish will just save your edits but not take down your piece. Saving as draft before ever saving as published is the only way to keep the piece incognito before you are ready for it to be live. If you want to take a Scope piece down after it has been published then you will change its status to ‘Archived’.

Schedule a Publish Time

You can also utilize the ‘Schedule a status change’ link to choose a later date and time for the piece to automatically publish/archive.

Please note we are still working out cache times so if a piece does not show up right away, wait at least an hour before reaching out to via our intake form. Most of the time the hour wait does the trick.

If you saved your piece in draft, you may discover that you cannot find it again once you navigate away from it. Please do not recreate the piece. It still exists but we have a random bug that affects one’s ability to find items saved in draft.

Please reach out by submitting a ticket via our intake form. if this happens to you.
