The Big List component is a simple tool for displaying a series of links in large, highly readable text. It supports optional sub-lists, which appear as smaller links below the main items. Authors can insert, reorder, and manage the links, though styling options are limited to adjusting the spacing above and below the component. This component is useful for situations where you need to prominently display a straightforward list of links.

Content Options

Authors can customize each item using the following fields:

  • Text: The main text that will appear for the link.
  • Link: The URL for the link, making the item clickable.
  • Anchor: Links to a specific section or element on the page. Enter the anchor name starting with # (e.g., #my-section-id).
  • Target: Choose where the link opens:
    • Same window: Opens the link in the current tab or window.
    • New window: Opens the link in a new tab or window.
  • Sub-list toggle: Turn this on to add a smaller list of links beneath the current item.

Authors can add, edit, and reorder items as needed, making it easy to organize the list.

Layout and Styling Options

The only layout and style options for this component are adjustments to the spacing above and below.

Usage

Do

  • Keep the list content clear and focused to help users quickly find what they need.
  • Use concise and meaningful text for each link to ensure clarity.
  • Organize links in a logical order, prioritizing the most important or frequently used items at the top.
  • Include sub-lists only when necessary to provide additional context or related links.
  • Ensure links lead to relevant and active pages or sections to avoid confusion.
  • Regularly review the list to remove outdated or redundant links.

Don't

  • Do not use overly long text for links that could make the list look cluttered or hard to read.
  • Refrain from using vague or generic link text like “Click here” or “More info.”
  • Avoid adding unrelated or unnecessary sub-lists.
  • Avoid rearranging links frequently without a clear reason.
  • Do not add links that duplicate content from other parts of the page without a specific purpose.
  • Refrain from using inconsistent language or formatting across links.
