Video files cannot be directly uploaded into Drupal. In order for a video to be embedded on a page you must either:
1. Upload that video unto the U's video library, Kaltura (AKA Mediaspace) or
2. Embed the video from a third party platform like YouTube or Vimeo.
Either route requires WCAG AA accessibility standards are met before the videos are allowed to be added to any page. That is your responsibility to ensure before you add a video to any page. Any video found out of compliance with WCAG will be promptly removed from the site.
Additionally, 3rd party video embeds are strictly prohibited on clinical patient-facing sites.

How to upload a video into Kaltura (Mediaspace)
1. Log in to the HSC instance of Kaltura (Mediaspace)
2. Click on the ‘Add New’ button on the top right corner and select ‘Media Upload’
3. Click the blue ‘+Choose a file to upload’ button to select the video file you wish to upload from your computer OR just drag and drop the video file from your desktop into the grey dropspace
4. Once the video is finished loading, you must fill out the required fields (listed out below) on the form that appears. Mediaspace/Kaltura will not let you publish the newly uploaded video if its required info is not complete.
a. ‘Name’- Give the video an appropriate, descriptive title (without being too long)
b. ‘Description’- Give the video a short concise description
c. 'Captions'- See these instructions on how to add/edit captions.
d. ‘Tags’- if your video has anything to do with a U of U Health Provider this is where you would type in their uID. This will cause the new video to appear on the provider’s MBM profile. Tags are also the way in which multiple videos can be brought together into a specific playlist like ‘Grand Rounds.’ Some departments have specific tags they want certain videos to always have so find out beforehand what tags your department/division may require any videos to have. If department specified 2 tags aren’t written out perfectly they will not function properly (this includes capitalized letters)
e. Select any applicable health topics or science topics for your video. Or don’t select any topics at all.
f. Finally, at the bottom of the form, select the ‘Unlisted’ dial button.
5. Click the blue ‘Save’ button at the bottom of the form once you have completed the necessary fields.
How to embed a Kaltura Video onto your page
After you upload a video to Kaltura (mediaspace) you will see a unique 10 digit 'Kaltura ID' now associated with each video. Example: 1_s6g27zeo
Copy that ID and drop a 'Kaltura Video' component onto your page. You will paste that Kaltura ID into the appropriate field in that component.
How to add a 3rd party video onto your page
Note: 3rd party video embeds are strictly prohibited on the following sites, unless there is clear documentation of a signed BAA from the 3rd party in question and that is known to the Digital Experience Team:
All videos that are embedded on any pages must meet WCAG Accessibility standards. That is your responsibility to ensure before you embed a video on any page.
To add a 3rd party hosted video (that is WCAG accessible), you will drop a Video Embed Component on your page and paste the video's embed code into the appropriate field of that component. Do not use a Text Component or any other WYSIWYG for this.
